resolution: noun, a firm decision to do or not to do something
So, it’s the first week of 2017 and I drank the recommended 8 glasses of water on the 1st of January (yay me!) and then totally forgot my resolution on the 2nd. The panic hit last night when I realised that I have already ruined everything and I promised myself I would try harder next year. It was too late to the get the 8 glasses in and not have to sleep on the bathroom floor…
Ouch, it doesn’t feel good at all to make a firm decision and not be able to follow through on day 2. I have read so much information about water intake and how much it affects energy levels and how much better my skin will look. I am really convinced that it would have made such a positive impact on my overall health this year. I was in full kick yourself mode.
A text from my beautiful friend last night snapped me out of the bitter internal feud I was witnessing.
Don’t be so hardcore, be kind to yourself my friend, ease into this new year xx
Resolve: verb, settle or find a solution to (a problem or contentious matter).
This morning I have woken up with a new resolve to my drink enough water resolution.
Like life, I am not perfect. I am tired of living the all or nothing mentality. The pressure we all put on ourselves is outrageous. My solution is that I am going to do my absolute best and that is good enough.
Goal: noun, the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result.
I have a New Year’s Resolution Goal of drinking 8 glasses of water a day. I have decided to try to set myself up with success by having a refillable bottle on my desk at work, and one in my kitchen at home. I have stocked up on herbal teas (non-caffeinated teas totally count towards the 8) and made a plan to have water with all meals and snacks. With three herbal teas, I am at my 8 glasses a day…
I am looking at the 362 days ahead of me. I will be proud to hit my goal 5 days out of the 7 in a week. If I only hit it 3 out of the 7, I can account for those 4 days. I forgot, and that’s OK!
So my advice to you all is, don’t be so hardcore, be kind to yourself my friends, ease into this new year xx
